Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is Dragon First Grader?
Dragon First Grader is an interactive educational game for children where they take care of a virtual dragon from egg to adulthood. The game combines pet care with fun and educational mini-games that develop vocabulary, math skills, and perception in line with the curriculum for the 1st grade of elementary school.
What age of children is the game intended for?
The game is primarily designed for children in the 1st grade of primary school (approx. 6–7 years), but thanks to different difficulty levels in mini-games, it can also be used by preschoolers or children in the 2nd grade.
Is the game safe for my child?
Yes, the maximum safety and privacy of children is our priority. The game does not collect any personal data, does not contain third-party ads or tracking tools. All game progress is saved only locally on your device. You can find more information in our Privacy Policy.
What happens when the dragon reaches the end?
The game has several different stories and can be played repeatedly, each time with a different story. After finishing one story, you have the option to start the whole adventure from the beginning with a new egg and experience another, completely new story.
Do I have to pay for the game?
The game offers a free basic version, which includes the Counting mini-game and complete dragon care. For the full experience, a full version is available, which is unlocked with a one-time in-app purchase. No monthly subscription! This gives you access to all 12 mini-games, the AI assistant, and the dragon's full voice-over.
Does the game contain ads?
No, Dragon First Grader is completely free of third-party ads. We want children to be able to fully concentrate on play and learning without distractions.
Is the game available in other languages?
Yes, currently the game is available in Czech and English. The language can be switched directly in the application settings.
How does the AI assistant (Google Gemini) work?
The full version of the game integrates an AI assistant that uses Google Gemini technology. Children can talk to the dragon and it will answer them. This feature is designed to be fun and interactive for children. All communication is sent to Google for analysis, but it is anonymous and is only used to generate a response. The prompt is also limited and safe for children, topics like violence, sex, etc. are blocked. The entire game, including the AI assistant, had to go through Google's approval process and the application obtained the international IARC certification, which confirms its suitability for children. You can turn this feature off at any time in the game settings.
What is the difference between a shared and a custom AI API key?
For the AI assistant to work, the game uses a shared API key by default. This key has a limited number of queries for all players combined. Therefore, it may happen that the AI temporarily stops responding during high traffic.
That's why the game offers the option to insert your own (private) Google Gemini API key. This will give you several advantages:
- Unlimited use: The AI will always work without limits.
- It's free: Creating your own API key in Google AI Studio is completely free for personal use.
- How to do it? Visit Google AI Studio, log in with your Google account and click on "Create API key". Then simply copy the obtained key into the settings in the game.
Why is the English pronunciation (Text-to-Speech) not working correctly?
Some phones may not have the English Text-to-Speech (TTS) data installed by default. If you're experiencing problems, you may need to install it manually in your phone's Settings (General management > Text-to-speech > Install voice data).
Purchase Approval Issue (Google Family Link)
If the full version purchase "freezes" and the parent doesn't receive an approval notification, try these steps:
- Approve in Person: Instead of sending a request, choose the option to approve the purchase on the spot on the child's device. The parent then enters their password directly into the child's phone.
- Activate Family Library: In the Google Play app (parent) > Settings > Family, sign up for the Family Library.
- Clear Cache: On the child's device, go to Settings > Apps > Google Play Store > Storage > Clear cache and data. Do the same for the "Google Play Services" app.
My purchase did not appear, what should I do?
In the application settings, you will find the "Restore Purchases" button. If that doesn't help, contact us at support: mdoom@mdoom.net.
